PILOT GUIDE / 01
Connect your RC transmitter or gamepad.
Use the live controller mapper in Interceptor to calibrate sticks, assign a launch button and check your inputs before flying. The setup follows RC Heli Sim's channel mapping workflow.
OPEN INTERCEPTOR SIMULATOR ↗1. Make the controller visible
Connect your controller over USB, or pair a supported Bluetooth device with your computer. Your operating system and browser must expose it through the Gamepad API; compatibility depends on the device, its connection mode and your browser. A transmitter appearing in Bluetooth settings alone does not guarantee that the simulator can read it.
Open the simulator, click the page, then move a stick or press a button to wake the controller. Gamepad access requires HTTPS on the published site, or localhost when testing. Open Configure controller on the menu, or Controls in the flight header. Select your device if several are connected.
2. Calibrate and assign all four controls
- Open the mapper with spring-centred sticks and switches at rest. Move one stick at a time and watch which live channel bar responds.
- Move every stick through its full travel. Ranges are learned continuously while the panel is open, in any order. Unsprung throttle uses the midpoint of its learned range.
- Assign Aileron (roll), Elevator (pitch), Rudder (yaw) and Throttle beside their channels. All four functions are required when saving a custom map.
- Use REV where the direction is reversed. Check the two stick previews: the left box displays yaw and throttle; the right displays roll and pitch. Raising throttle should move the left dot upward.
Standard gamepads start with Mode 2 controls: left stick for yaw/throttle and right stick for roll/pitch. Custom transmitters need a saved mapping before they control the drone.
3. Map launch, then save
Press your preferred button and find its illuminated indicator in the Buttons section. Choose Launch drone beside it. You can also assign launch to a switch channel: move the switch through both positions; its high position launches, and REV swaps the direction.
Other available actions include pause/resume, change camera and replace drone. Choose Save after checking the previews. If a range is incomplete, follow the message and move that stick through its full travel. Mappings are stored per device in this browser. Setup opened during flight leaves the game paused; resume when ready.
Read the TX status in the flight header
- Green: the controller is connected and ready.
- Amber: a controller is detected but needs mapping.
- Grey: no controller is connected.
Hover over the status for controller details. The small live stick boxes also respond to keyboard or touch input, so moving dots alone do not confirm a TX connection. A controller disconnect pauses flight. Reconnect it, or continue using the keyboard controls.
